The Stiassny remodel transformed a compartmentalized 1980s Anchorage hillside home into an open-plan interior that takes full advantage of the site's views while improving thermal performance.
Load-bearing walls were replaced with a steel moment frame, allowing the kitchen, dining, and living spaces to merge into a single volume oriented toward the Cook Inlet view.
The material palette — natural stone, white oak millwork, and exposed steel connections — was chosen for longevity and ease of maintenance, avoiding the fashion cycles that date residential interiors within a decade.
