The Sakura signage and glass art program extends the restaurant's interior design language into the public circulation areas of Hotel Alyeska — creating a cohesive identity sequence from the hotel corridor to the dining room.
The fused glass panels were created by a Girdwood-based artist using a kilnforming process that captures the mountain light quality specific to Alaska — the diffuse, low-angle winter light that defines the region's visual character.
Steel mounting frames were custom fabricated to integrate the glass panels into the building's existing wall system without penetrating the vapor barrier — a critical detail in a building that experiences significant interior humidity from restaurant operations.
